Geological investigations in the U12b.03 and U12b.04 tunnels, Nevada Test Site

The papers comprising the various parts of this report contain preliminary results of the U. S. Geological Survey investigations in the U12b.03 and U12b.04 tunnels at the Nevada Test Site, Nye County, Nevada (fig. 1). The geologic studies were undertaken to define the structural, chemical, mineralogic, and some of the physical properties of the tuffaceous rocks that enclose the explosion chambers at the end of each tunnel. The U12b.03 and .04 tunnels are part of the U12b (Rainier) tunnel complex that was driven northwestward from the steep east slope of Rainier Mesa (a prominent topographic feature in the northwest part of the Test Site (fig . 2)). The U12b.03 tunnel trends north from a point about 980 feet from the portal of the U12b tunnel (fig. 3). The U12b.03 tunnel consists of 620 feet of tunnel, two alcoves, and a shot chamber. The tunnel is irregular, ranging from 6 to 10 feet in width, and 6 to 9 feet in height. The shot chamber at the north end of the tunnel is 22 feet on each sidee The vertical and minimum cover over the shot chamber are 610 and 510 feet, respectively.

Bibliography and index of U.S. Geological Survey trace elements and related reports through June 1956

This bibliography supersedes TEI-500, "U. S. Geological Survey Trace Elements and related reports through 1954." Part I is a numerical list of U. S. Geological Survey Trace Elements Investigations and Memorandum reports. This part lists reports that have been transmitted to the U. S. Atomic Energy Comission and also reports in preparation (followed by an asterisk) for which tentative titles were available on June 30, 1956. If a report or part of a report has been published, the fact is indicated by the abbreviation of the medium of publication. (See also Part II.) Part II is a reference guide to Trace Elements and related reports that are available to the public. (Part II supersedes Part I of Bulletin 1019-B.) These reports are grouped according to type of publication or release. If a report or part of a report has been published in more than one form, corss-references indicate the other forms of publication. Publications in preparation or in press on June 30, 1956, are designated by an asterisk. Part III is an author index. The words "with" and "and" are used to indicate seniority of authorship. For example, a listing of Black and White indicates that Black is the senior author. A listing of Black with White indicates that White is the senior author. Part IV is an index for finding reports on specific areas or subjects. Information for the index was taken from titles, tables of contents, and abstracts of unpublished reports and from titles of published reports. The index in TEI-500 was used as a guide.

Numerical list of U.S. Geological Survey Trace Elements Reports to April 30, 1953

This report contains 1) a list in numerical order of U.S. Geological Survey Trace Elements Investigations and Memorandum Reports, and 2) an author index for these reports. It supercedes TEI-30, issued in November 1952. This report contains lists not only of reports that have been transmitted to the U.S Atomic Energy Commission, that is, those reports followed by a date, but also those reports for which tentative titles were available prior to the date of completion of this list, April 30, 1953. The reports that are in preparation and subject to change in title are indicated by an asterisk. The classifications that are shown for some of the reports issued prior to 1947 are uncertain: classifications shown are based on the best information available at the time that this report was prepared. The Geological Survey does not have additional copies for permanent distribution of most of the reports listed, but copies of many of the completed reports can be loaned to organizations or individuals who are cooperating with the Atomic Energy Commission.

This report lists in numerical order U.S. Geological Survey Trace Elements Investigations and Memorandum Reports and supersedes a similar report issued in January 1952 (TEI-202). This report contains lists not only of reports that have been transmitted to the U.S. Atomic Energy Commission, that is, those reports followed by a date, but also those reports for which tentative titles were available prior to the date of completion of this list, September 14, 1952. The reports that are in preparation and subject to change in title are indicated by an asterisk. The classifications that are shown for some of the reports issued prior to 1947 are uncertain; classifications shown are based on the best information available at the time that this report was prepared. To keep the numerical lists up to date, periodic supplements will be issued. The supplementary pages will be prepared so that they can be substituted for the pages in the present report. The Geological Survey does not have additional copies for permanent distribution of most of the reports listed, but copies of many of the completed reports can be loaned to organizations or individuals who are cooperating with the Atomic Energy Commission.
