Earthquakes, March-April 1984

Abstract

There were two major earthquakes (magnitude 7.0-7.9) during this reporting period, the first on March 19 in Uzbek SSR and the second in the Kuril Islands on March 24. Six deaths were reported during the period in Japan and Italy. In the United States a destructive earthquake occurred in central California on April 24. pennsylvania and several adjoining or nearby States were shaken by a light earthquake on April 23.
