Geology and mineral and energy resources, Roswell Resource Area, New Mexico; an interactive computer presentation

This Compact Disc-Read Only Memory (CD-ROM) contains a program illustrating the geology and mineral and energy resources of the Roswell Resource Area, an administrative unit of the U.S. Bureau of Land Management in east-central New Mexico. The program enables the user to access information on the geology, geochemistry, geophysics, mining history, metallic and industrial mineral commodities, hydrocarbons, and assessments of the area. The program was created with the display software, SuperCard, version 1.5, by Aldus. The program will run only on a Macintosh personal computer. This CD-ROM was produced in accordance with Macintosh HFS standards. The program was developed on a Macintosh II-series computer with system 7.0.1. The program is a compiled, executable form that is nonproprietary and does not require the presence of the SuperCard software.

Chemical analyses of selected agricultural soils of Missouri

This report contains a compilation of chemical data for samples of the plow zone of agricultural soils that were collected in 1970 from each of the 114 counties of the State of Missouri. Most of the principal taxonomic soil types that occur in each county are represented by the 10 samples per county that were collected. There are numerous examples of soils that were developed from each of the several parent-material types in the State. Each soil sample is a composite of several channel samples collected throughout a field from a depth 0-15cm. Soil material that passed a 2mm sieve was ground in a ceramic mill to -100 mesh and then analyzed for total concentrations of 70 elements. The methods of analysis and the lower limits of determination for each element are given in table 1. Most methods were described by Miesch (1976); delayed neutron counting for uranium and thorium was described by Millard (1976). The limits of determination for the methods did not always encompass the natural range of element concentrations in some samples, thus the elements may be classed into three groups: never detected, rarely detected, and frequently detected.

Average composition of agriculture soils in Missouri counties

Samples of agricultural soils were collected extensively throughout the State of Missouri for the purpose of evaluating the distribution of elements in soils of the State. Only soils used for agricultural purposes during the year 1970 or before were sampled. It is recognized that these soils may be altered chemically to some minor degree by the application of fertilizers.
