The use of the National Water Data Exchange in support of estuarine and coastal programs

The National Water Data Exchange (NAWDEX) was established by the U.S. Geological Survey in 1976. Its program is directed toward improving the exchange of water and water -related data collected and made available by hundreds of federal and non-federal agencies throughout the United States. This paper describes the NAWDEX program and the services which can be provided to assist coastal and estuarine programs.

Instructions for the submission of data to the Master Water Data Index

Instructions are given for the computerized processing of data prepared for entry into the Master Water Data Index of the U.S. Geological Survey 's National Water Data Exchange (NAWDEX), as discussed in the manual entitled ' Instructions for the Preparation of Data for the Master Water Data Index. ' Two processing procedures are provided: The edit of data and the submission of data for storage in the Master Water Data Index. These instructions are applicable to both new data being submitted for storage and to update transactions for data previously processed and stored. (USGS)

Index to water-quality data available from the U.S. Geological Survey in machine-readable form to December 31, 1972; Northeastern region

This report lists water quality stations operated by the U.S. Geological Survey for which data are available in machine-readable form. The data are the results of analyses of water samples and indicate the chemical and physical characteristics of surface and ground water. Samples of surface water were collected at designated sites at predetermined intervals such as once daily, weekly, monthly, or less frequently. Samples of ground water were collected from wells infrequently and on an irregular basis.
