Stratigraphic sections of Jurassic San Rafael Group and adjacent rocks in Wayne County, Utah

These sections were measured prior to 1960, before adoption of the metric system. Publication was delayed by other assignments of the authors and later by the untimely death of J. C. Wright. They are being released at this time because of the increased interest in the uranium potential of Jurassic rocks. The Summerville, Curtis, Entrada, and Carmel Formations are the formations of the San Rafael Group present in these sections.

Measured stratigraphic sections of Jurassic San Rafael Group and adjacent rocks in Kane County, Utah

These sections were measured prior to 1960, before adoption of the metric system. Publication was delayed by other assignments of the authors and later by the untimely death of J. C. Wright. They are being released at this time because of the increased interest in the uranium potential of Jurassic rocks. The San Rafael Group is represented by the Carmel, Entrada, Summerville, and Bluff Formations in these sections.

Stratigraphic sections of Jurassic San Rafael Group and adjacent rocks in Coconino County, Arizona

These sections were measured prior to 1960, before adoption of the metric system. Publication was delayed by other assignments of the authors and later by the untimely death of J. C. Wright. They are being released at this time because of the increased interest in the uranium potential of Jurassic rocks. The Summerville, Entrada, and Carmel are the only formations of the San Rafael Group that are present in these sections.

Summary of geologic effects of the Boxcar event, Nevada Test Site

A high-yield underground nuclear explosion at the U20i site, formed a sink 1,000 feet in diameter above the explosion point. Fractures opened as far as 20,000 feet from the explosion and rock-falls occurred as far as 15 miles. Most fractures were coincidental with north-trending naturally occurring faults. Maximum displacement along a fault was 3 feet vertically with the downthrown side the same as that on the original fault.

Core logs from two test holes near Kramer, San Bernardino County, California

Between July 1954 and May 1955 two test holes were drilled near Kramer Calif., on the Mojave Desert. Four Corners test hole 1 was drilled in sec. 20 T. 10 N., R. 6 W., San Bernardino base line and meridian, to a depth of 1,561 feet in a basin filled with Quaternary and Tertiary sediments. The core is predominantly sand and conglomerate composed of mostly unweathered quartz monzonite debris. Four Corners test hole 2 was drilled in sec. 5, T. 10 N., R. 8 W., in a separate sediment-filled basin. The core from this hole is less consolidated and more weathered. It is predominantly clay, silt, sand, and gravel composed of quartz monzonitic and volcanic material. Detailed logs of the cores are given in this report.
